John T. Gray

John T. Gray, 91, of Enon, Ohio, passed away on September 6, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. John was born on November 27, 1934. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He shared 68 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mary Catherine Gray, built a life together through love, family, hard work, and unwavering devotion. John spent his working life as President and Owner of Garber Electric, Inc. of Springfield where his strong work ethic and ability to fix and build things were a natural fit. He was a born leader and spent several years as President of Clark County Electrical Contractors Association. Even outside of work, John was rarely one to sit idle. He was always working on something, taking care of something, or finding a way to help. Much of what he did throughout his life came from a simple place—his deep love for his wife and his desire to take care of the family they built together. Those who knew John knew him as a quiet, gentle, and genuinely kind man. He didn’t need to be the loudest person in the room to make his presence known. His love was often shown through what he did rather than what he said, and the life he built over 91 years leaves a lasting example of devotion, hard work, and quiet strength. John and his wife, Mary Catherine Gray were blessed with two children, Cheryl (Jerry), Heidorn and Mike Gray (Brenda Fugett). His family grew to include granddaughter Heidi (Aaron) Wade and step-grandchildren Leanna Westergaard and Ben Heidorn. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Bexley and Beckham Wade, and Cierra and Paige Drummond, many nieces, nephews and sister-in-law. John was one of three children and was preceded in death by his sisters, June and Juanita, as well as his parents, Carl and Hazel (Bumgardner) Gray. After 68 years of marriage and a lifetime spent working, providing, fixing, building, and quietly caring for the people he loved. John leaves behind a legacy that can be seen most clearly in his family and in the life he and his wife created together. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Adkins Funeral Home in Enon, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
