Llewellyn "Lew" Davis Arnold

ARNOLD, Llewellyn (Lew) Davis, traded in his earthly body for his new heavenly body on March 22, 2013 at the University of California San Diego’s Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center. Lew was born in Auburn, NY on 17 September 1946 to William (Bill) Marvin (Marve) Arnold and Frances (Fran) Davis Arnold. The joy and pride of his life was his best friend, soulmate, and wife, Kathryn Sue Colwell Arnold, the best thing to ever happen to him. The Lord not only blessed them with three wonderfully unique children, He also blessed them in daily life and in His promises for eternity. Raised as an “Air Force brat,” he was fortunate to live in and visit many areas of the United States, but as a high school freshman his family moved to Enon, which became the family’s adopted hometown. He graduated from Greenon High School (1964), attended Merced (CA) College, graduated from Wright State University (BS in Education in 1968 and MEd in 1980), and taught English at Greenon for 24 years. Later, he served as secretary at the Enon Church of Christ, where he and his wife attended for over 30 years. Since 2001 they worshipped at Springfield’s Fellowship Christian Church. From 1972 through 2004 he covered multiple Greenon sports for the various incarnations of the Enon newspaper. He was also active in the Enon community and was serving on the Enon Village Council. He especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in their involvement in various sports, particularly soccer, cross country, and track. Survivors include his wife; their sons Joshua Colwell Arnold and Caleb Matthew Arnold; their daughter Laura Kim Arnold Williams, her husband Mike, and their children Cody and Kaylee; brother Thomas Marvin Arnold, his wife Kathy, and their sons Andy, Michael, and Tony; and sister Marcia Louise Arnold Brown, her husband Kelly, and their children Ross, Neil, and Maggie; and his mother-in-law, Mary Kathryn (Oma) Colwell. He was predeceased by his mother, father (Lt. Colonel, USAF, retired), father-in-law Major (USAF, retired) Lewis Sanford (Opa) Colwell Sr., brother-in-law Lt. Commander (UPH, retired) Lewis Sanford Colwell Jr., and nephew Karl William Brown. In keeping with Lew’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, afghans, or gifts, the family requests memorial donations to the UC San Diego Foundation, Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center, 9500 Gilman Drive #0853, La Jolla CA 92093-0853. Visitation will be 12-2 pm Friday, March 29, 2013 in Adkins Funeral Home, Enon. A private service will be held at a later date.
