Virginia Grigsby

Virginia Grigsby, of Enon, Ohio passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025, in Fairborn, Ohio. She was born Sunday, April 2, 1939 in Sandy Hook, Kentucky to the late Guy and Edda Veral Eldridge Barker, where she worked many years of her childhood helping to tend the land, and helping with her 7 younger siblings. Continuing to work hard all her life, Virginia retired from International Harvester after 35 plus years. Upon retirement Virginia very much enjoyed volunteering at the local pantry. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, spoiling her grandchildren, and cooking and feeding everyone. She also cherished time with her sister making many fun memories at the local casino. Virginia was an avid gardener with quite the green thumb. She loved sharing things from her garden with everyone. She would open her door to anyone who needed help. Her heart was as big as her work ethic, a magical combination. Virginia is survived by her two daughters; Dawnetta Atchison ( Michael) of Mitchell, Indiana, and Brenda Litton (Eric Smith) of Madison, Indiana, her siblings Carol Jo Fraley, (Gary ) Jerry Nicholas Barker (Judy), and Timothy Lee Barker (Pauline) Grandchildren: Marcus Atchison, ( Aloma), Zachary Atchison, Liam Cassidy, and Grace Cassidy and her loving partner John Zehnder. Great-grandchildren: Ender and Anara Atchison, and many other beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was loved by all she met. She will be greatly missed in her family and community. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Guy and Veral Barker, sisters, Eloise Barker, Lovene Spencer, Betty Wagoner, Darlene Barker, and Katherine Fyffe, brothers, James Evan Barker, and Guy William Barker. Long ago, Virginia adamantly expressed her wishes, to be cremated and have her ashes spread on the land where she grew up, as other family members had chosen to do. She requested that there be no services upon her death.
