Gary Lee Preston Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gary Lee Preston, Jr., 48, of Springfield passed away, Sunday, February 19, 2017. He was born on July 15, 1968 to Gary Lee, Sr. and Doris (Pack) Preston. Gary graduated from Greenon High School in 1986 and attended Morehead State University before joining the US Navy shortly after. He met Roianne Van Rope during his naval service and they were married in 1992. Gary worked as a machinist for Esterline & Sons MFG. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing the guitar and hiking, especially in John Bryan State Park. Gary is survived by his wife of 23 years, Roianne of Springfield; two sons, Wyatt Joseph Preston and Troy S. Preston of Springfield; his parents, Gary and Doris Preston of Casstown, OH; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry Brian and Sharon Preston of Casstown, OH; his maternal grandmother, Imogene Pack and his paternal grandmother, Leone Preston, both of Fairborn, OH; two nieces, Sydney and Shelby Preston; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly and grieve his loss forever. Gary is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Vadis Pack; his paternal grandfather, Luther Preston; and two aunts, Brenda Preston and Julia Pack; three uncles, Jimmy Pack, Larry Preston and Billy Preston. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Miami Valley United Baptist Church, 660 W. Hyde Road, Yellow Springs, OH 45387, with Elder Freddie Preston and Elder Eugene Wells officiating. Family and friends may also call during a visitation on Thursday, February 23, 2017 between 5:00 and 8:00 PM at Adkins Funeral Home, 7055 Dayton-Springfield Road, Enon, OH 45323. In lieu of flowers, the Preston family requests that donations be made in Gary’s memory to a fund set up for his children. Currently, those donations should be mailed to Adkins Funeral Home, c/o The Gary Preston Memorial Fund.
