Michael "Mike" Chaffin
February 6, 1962 - October 29, 2021
Michael “Mike” Chaffin (AKA: Uncle Butchie), age 59, of Fairborn, OH, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 29, 2021 from complications after a five-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born on February 6, 1962 to Harry and Martina “Marti” (McDaniel) Chaffin, in Frankfurt, Germany—he was an Army Brat! Mike graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1980, then from Sinclair Community College in 1989. He married the love of his life, Tracey (Blanton) Chaffin on May 17, 1997. Though he was taken from her too soon, they had 24 wonderful years together. Mike was devoted to his family and his faith. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marti Chaffin; maternal grandparents, Denny and Dorothy McDaniel; and paternal grandparents, Harry and Stella Chaffin. Mike is survived by his father and step-mother, Harry and Beverly “Bev” Chaffin of Bellbrook, OH; his wife, Tracey Chaffin; a daughter, Samantha “Sam” Chaffin; a son, Cooper Chaffin, all of Fairborn, OH; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Mindi & Tim Coberly of Sidney, OH and Mari & Tracy Kirchgessner of Lancaster, OH; a step-brother, David (Tina) Ruble of Bellbrook, OH; a step-sister, Kelly Klinedinst of Wilmington, NC; four nephews: Matthew (Nikki) Coberly, Nicholas Coberly, Isaiah Kirchgessner, Chris (AKA: Chuck) Kirchgessner; a niece, Rachel (Zac) Dalton; five step-nieces: Gabrielle & Madison Ruble, Sarah, Meghan & Katelyn Klinedinst; a great-nephew, Mason Coberly; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors. Everyone who knew Mike will miss his smile, his wit and his spirit forever. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hiking and riding his Harley. He loved to watch the Reds, the Buckeyes and the Bengals; and was waiting for the day Cincinnati was in the Super Bowl again! (Maybe this year, Mike, in your honor.) Yet, as big of a fan as he was of those teams, it paled in comparison to the joy and pride he felt watching Sam pitch in softball or Cooper play whatever he was playing, depending on the season. Mike was also very active in his church when his children were little. He taught Sunday School when Sam was young and was game-leader for Awana and Vacation Bible School. Lately, he’d been attending Medway Church where he worked in the nursery when he was able. Mike was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. A funeral service will be held in Adkins Funeral Home, Enon, on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 6:00 PM with Pastor Terry McGraner officiating. Friends and family may also pay their respects during visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Thursday, prior to the service. The Chaffin family asks that we all dress casually, as Mike would have wanted — wear your Reds, Bengals or Buckeye gear if you have some! In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mike’s name to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by going to: https://www.lls.org and clicking on the red donate button or by mailing a check with their form (which you can get on their website and/or at Mike's funeral) to: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, PO Box 22324, New York, NY 10087
