Oscar “Bernie” Howard, 88 of Fairborn passed away March 6, 2016 in Fairborn. He was born March 11, 1927 in Jamestown, Tennessee to the late Ed and Roxie Howard. Bernie was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a painter for most of his life and owned “Bernies Painting”. He loved to sing country music and was our “Johnny Cash”. He served in World War II and the Korea War. Bernie was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 6861 and a member of AMVETS Post 444. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Howard whom he married February 8, 1969, five children; Douglas Horton of Fairborn, Clifford “Wayne” (Sonia) Horton of Fairborn, Judy Horton-Howard of Fairborn, Vicki Horton-Howard of Springfield, Leesa (Dewayne Ison) Howard of Fairborn, ex-daughter in law, Mary Banks of Cincinnati, ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and special friends; Larry Roberts and Jim Veline . He was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings; Johnny, Kenneth, Katherine and Tom. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 Thursday in Adkins Funeral Home, Enon.
