Barbara A. Olgeaty

Barbara Antoinette (Horton) Olgeaty, a beloved figure in her church community and an embodiment of resilience, passed away peacefully June 11, 2024, after a valiant 25-year struggle with cancer. Known affectionately as Toni, she leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. She was born Dec 29, 1939, in Syracuse, New York. A Life of Love: Toni’s marriage to Col. (ret.) Edward C. Olgeaty, Jr. spanned nearly 64 years, a testament to their enduring love and companionship. They were voted “best couple” of their senior class at West Genesee High School in Camillus, New York. Toni lovingly supported Eddie during his 30-year career in the United States Air Force. Family Matriarch: She is mourned by her husband and their three children, Vicki (Ron) Fry, Scott (Jackie DeVaull) Olgeaty, and Sandi (Mark) Bowman. Toni found so much joy in her five grandchildren: Leah (Kyle) Liddy; Kellie and Tyler Olgeaty; and Jason and Jacob Bowman; and her two great-grandchildren: Isaac and Maxwell Liddy. She also is survived by two beloved sisters, Judy (David) Clark and Donna (John) Uppole; sister-in-law Diane (Mike) Ross; and numerous nieces and nephews. They all will carry forward her spirit of courage. A treasured sister, Lynda (Ottar) Loland, preceded Toni in death. A Lasting Impact: Toni’s 30-year career as a personnel specialist for the Department of Defense showcased her commitment to serving others, a value she upheld throughout her life. In Loving Memory: Services will be held at St Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Fairborn, Ohio at 11:00 AM on June 18, 2024, with burial at Enon Cemetery. Visitation hours are 9:30 – 10:45 AM, preceding the service at the church. A burial will follow the church hosted meal, in Enon Cemetery at 1:30 pm. Services will be streamed at the church’s Facebook page, also available under Social Media at stchrisfairborn.org. To honor Toni’s memory and her deep faith and community ties, contributions can be made to St. Christopher Episcopal Church in lieu of flowers. Toni’s life was marked by her remarkable strength in the face of adversity and her unwavering support for her family and country. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and admired her. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the medical professionals who supported Toni in her journey.
