Ellen Louise Denlinger

Ellen Louise Denlinger, age 82, of Springfield OH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 5, 2021. She was born on September 10, 1939, also in Springfield, to the late Abe and Gertrude (Warrick) Hanes. Ellen graduated from Springfield High School followed by secretarial training. Soon after, Ellen married the love of her life, William R. Denlinger “Bill” on September 18, 1959, and shared 62 wonderful and adventurous years together. Ellen was active in a card club with life long girlfriends, she was a Brownie Troop Leader, Athletic Booster Volunteer and an active sports and 4-H mom. Ellen worked for Mad River Green Local Schools as Secretary to the Principal and to the Guidance Counselor’s Office, where she built relationships with many students, teachers and parents. She later moved to the office of the Superintendent where she retired following thirty years with the school district. Ellen served as the High School Cheer Coach for many years as well. This is something she enjoyed very much. Ellen was preceded in death by her loving parents; two sisters, Delores and Lucille; and step-grandson Wil. She is survived by her devoted husband Bill Denlinger; two sons and a daughter-in-law: William J (Bill) Denlinger of Springfield and Kevin (Kenda) Denlinger of Roscommon, MI; a daughter and son-in-law: Katherine (Ron) Denney of Centerville; a brother, Richard (Dick) Hanes of Clark County; and seven grandchildren that she adored: Morgan Pridemore, Emma Denlinger, Sarah Pridemore, Samantha Denlinger, Christopher Denlinger, Caroline Denlinger and much later her joy Benjamin Denlinger; as well as other extended family members and numerous friends who will miss Ellen forever. Ellen could be described as strong and funny with a memorable contagious laugh, and as a loving partner. A private family service will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM in Adkins Funeral Home, with burial immediately following in the Denlinger Section of the Enon Cemetery.
