Rev. Gladys Manns Williams

After an extended weekend with her family, Rev. Gladys Manns Williams went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2013 just before dawn. Gladys was 85. She is preceded in death by her husband Rev. William A. Williams, and her daughter, Gloria Williams Boyd. Born December 21, 1927 to Harrison Manns and Elizabeth (Rowe) Manns, Gladys was raised in Middletown but always valued her Kentucky roots. She and Bill raised six children in the Dayton/Enon area. Their children are Dale (Kathy) of Bozeman, Montana, David and Danny (Martina) of Los Angeles, Jenny Bennett (Rodney) of Sunbury, Ohio, Jimmy (Marcia) of Davenport, Florida. Daughter Gloria Boyd (Raymond) preceded her in death in 2011. Gladys loved and valued her seven grandchildren, Sean Williams (Lindsey) of Austin, Minnesota, Jonathan Williams of Bozeman, Montana, Stephanie Boyd of West Chester, OH, Vicki and Christopher Williams of Los Angeles, and Justin (Erin) Bennett of West Chester, OH and Tara Bennett of Columbus, OH. The only girl of eight children, Gladys remained close throughout her life to all of her brothers who have preceded her in death. They were Herschel (Mary), Luther “Boot” (Viola), Carl (Evelyn), Raymond (Kathleen), Ralph (Naomi), Leroy (Shirley), Harold “Dean” (Vermilda). Numerous nieces and nephews reside in the Dayton/Springfield area. Bill and Gladys were well known as founders of the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church on Fowler Road, Enon. Besides building the church with their own hands, both were shepherds of the congregation for over 20 years, bringing many into the Fold of Jesus Christ. Throughout her life, Gladys enjoyed cooking and baking desserts, camping, church revivals, gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, and family reunions. She was often seen reading her Bible and being of comfort to family and friends, particularly in times of sorrow and grief. The viewing will be Friday, August 2, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Adkins Funeral Home, 7055 Dayton-Springfield Road, Enon. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 3, at the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church, 2500 Fowler Road, Enon with Rev. Clinton “Roy” McIntosh officiating. Interment will follow the services at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Gladys Williams’ name to Full Gospel Pentecostal Church, 2500 Fowler Road, Springfield, OH 45502.
