Roy Lee "Bill" Hensley

Roy Lee (Bill) Hensley was born to Isabel (Standafer) Hensley and Levi Hensley in Hardburly, KY on September 20,1940 and was the second youngest of 13 children. Although he was given the name Roy at birth, his father thought he looked more like a “Bill” and has been called such ever since. Bill grew up in Busy, Ky: where he met his future wife Mae Hensley. They later were married in Fairborn, Oh on July 3rd 1961 where Bill worked and retired form Chrysler and they raised their children Warren & Tammy. Bill was a member of Faith Hill Church of God for 52 years where he held many roles such as youth leader, song leader, and deacon and a member of the Fairborn Masonic Lodge #764 for 45 years. A Husband, Father, Papaw, Brother, Uncle, and friend, Bill devoted his life to his family and friends. From house projects, to meals, to rides, to financial support, Bill went above and beyond to serve others. Bill and Mae built a home full of love, laughter, grace, and understanding and for those fortunate enough to know him knew they were welcome anytime. When Bill wasn’t helping those around him, he loved watching University of Kentucky Basketball, Ohio State football, and watching Gunsmoke. He passed way peacefully on Saturday, May 25th 2024 in his home surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his mother Isabel (Standafer) Hensley, father Levi Hensley, brothers: Herman, Jasper, Levi, Harry, S.C., Taylor, Earl, Robert, Frank, Freddie, and sisters: Virginia Coffey and Betty Hoskins. He was survived by his wife Alva Mae (Couch) Hensley, his son Warren (Pamela) Hensley and daughter Tammy Byrd. Grandchildren: Jason (Jennifer) Hensley Aaron (Maribeth) Pitstick Caleb (Acacia) Byrd Tyler (Keely) Hensley Chelsea (Brett) Caskey Great Grandchildren: Rylee & Carter Hensley Grayson, Weston, & Elliot Pitstick Alexyanna Byrd Kolby Hensley A host of nieces and nephews, his best friends Bob Evans & Will Madison. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, June 1, 2024 in Faith Hill Church of God, Fairborn. Masonic service will be held at the beginning of the funeral service. A visitation will be held 10:00 to 11:00 in the church prior to the service. Adkins Funeral Home, Enon, is assisting Bill’s family with his final wishes.
